ENGEN CHAMP OF CHAMPS MEDIA DRAW SET FOR 07 OCTOBER AT TUKS HIGH PERFORMANCE CENTRE

Engen continues to raise the bar in youth football as it prepares to host the prestigious Engen Champ of Champs at its new home in Tshwane. For the first time, the Tuks High Performance Centre will stage the tournament from 10-12 October, with the official media draw set for 07 October 2025.

The Engen Champ of Champs has built a legacy of producing some of South Africa’s brightest football talents. Over the years the tournament has crowned an array of champions, created unforgettable moments, and served as a launchpad for players who have gone on to shine professionally.

Among its graduates are Relebohile Mofokeng, Adrielle Mibe,  Lyle Foster, Mohau Nkota, Ronnel Donnelly and Mfundo Vilakazi. Notably, the U20 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) champions, Amajita, featured a strong core of Engen graduates – formidable testament to the tournament’s impact on the national game.

This year, the winners of the three regional Engen Knockout Challenge tournaments (Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng) will compete with nominated teams from South Africa’s 6 other provinces for national bragging rights under the banner, “It’s Your Moment of Glory”.

Gavin Smith, Engen Corporate Communications Manager, said: “The Engen Champ of Champs continues to inspire a generation of footballers. It has consistently given players a stage to showcase their talent, grow in confidence, and prepare for the professional game. This year is about building on that tradition and giving these young athletes their chance at glory.”

Having stood tall between the posts at the very tournament, Engen Champ of Champs ambassador, Brighton Mhlongo knows just what awaits the players: “The Engen Champ of Champs is where everything gets real,” said the former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper. “You’ve already proven yourself at regional level, but here you’re tested under pressure. This is where you separate good players from great ones.”

Meanwhile, FIFA Talent Coach and Engen Champ of Champs ambassador, Thabo Senong reflected on the tournament’s deeper purpose: “For me, this competition is as much about development as it is about winning. It’s about conditioning young players to think, to adapt, and to grow – lessons that last long after the final whistle.”

The Engen Champ of Champs is set to make history in Tshwane, bringing together the nation’s best youth footballers and reminding every player that It’s Your Moment of Glory”.

The media draw is scheduled for 11h00 on 07 October at the Tuks High Performance Centre (HPC) in Tswane.
