As one of South Africa’s most recognisable brands, we take immense pride in sponsoring teams, events, and tournaments that deeply align with our brand values and resonate with our stakeholders and customers.
We view our responsibility to the environment and society as paramount, just as important as our commitment to our shareholders and employees. That’s why we not only fuel vehicles but also pour our energy into meaningful social investments, sustainability interventions, and sponsorships. Our traditions of supporting and uplifting communities where we operate are deeply rooted, and we are dedicated to continuing as a caring and responsible corporate citizen.
Our commitment extends to using sport as a platform to foster the growth of South Africa’s youth. Through our sponsorship initiatives, we provide comprehensive platforms for athletes to showcase their skills, both on and off the field. We believe in inspiring these athletes, creating development opportunities, and leaving a lasting positive impact on participants, fans, coaches, and communities alike.
Engen takes great pride in hosting and sponsoring the annual Engen Knockout Challenge (EKOC) and Engen Champ of Champs (ECOC) youth football tournaments. Since their inception in 2003, these tournaments have thrived, establishing themselves as the premier youth football events in South Africa. Our tournaments provide a stage for young, under-17 male football players to showcase their skills and attract the attention of top professional teams.
With over 30,000 young footballers from diverse backgrounds participating in our annual EKOC and ECOC tournaments, many players have earned professional contracts by impressing scouts at these events and have gone on to represent South Africa at the national level. In 2020, EKOC proudly expanded by adding an under-20 women’s division, with an equal number of female teams taking part in 2023.
At Engen Soccer, our commitment extends beyond creating opportunities for aspiring players; we also aim to empower youth in various ways within the sport. We emphasize the myriad opportunities available beyond professional play, highlighting the broad spectrum of avenues for personal and skill development.
As a leading performance-driven brand, Engen is proud to be the “Official Fuel Supplier” of the Springboks. As a company, Engen strives for integrity, teamwork, and performing at the highest level every day – qualities at the heart of the four-time world champions.
In addition to supporting today’s heroes, Engen is passionate about nurturing the heroes of tomorrow as the official development partner of ‘Get into Rugby’. Engen is enormously proud to be associated with this World Rugby initiative led locally by the South African Rugby Union (SARU). ‘Get into Rugby’ aims to develop youngsters while expanding the sport, especially by making it accessible to members of under-resourced communities.
Broken into Try, Play, and Stay phases, ‘Get into Rugby’ encourages girls and boys aged 6-13 to engage with one of South Africa’s most-loved sports in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Engen is the proud fuel supplier of the renowned Comrades Marathon, considered the world’s greatest ultra-marathon. This partnership, signed in 2024, is a testament to Engen’s commitment to serving South Africans during their unforgettable journeys. The challenging and scenic 90km route from Pietermaritzburg to Durban mirrors Engen’s dedication to providing quality services along the way.
Our strong presence throughout the route symbolizes our alliance with the esteemed and beloved Comrades brand. Beyond a shared history in South Africa, we also embrace common values, making this collaboration a source of great pride for Engen.
