Engen is set to take youth development to the next level with the launch of its Becoming a Diski Legend players workshop.
Scheduled for 09 October from 16h30 to 18h30, Becoming a Diski Legend kick-offs on the eve of the 2025 Engen Champ of Champs, which runs from 10-12 October at the Tuks High Performance Centre in Pretoria.
The workshop, which will be hosted by former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Brighton Mhlongo will challenge players to think beyond football by focusing on personal branding, professionalism, and preparing for life after their playing days.
“Hosting this workshop is something I’m truly excited about,” said Mhlongo, who has forged a successful media career post his playing days. “I know what it means to dedicate your life to football, but I also know how important it is to build yourself as a brand while you’re still playing. That way, when the game stops, you’re ready to step into the next chapter with confidence.”
Drawing from his own experience of the highs of competing at the top level to the challenges of transitioning after injury, Mhlongo will share real lessons with players about discipline, education, and sustaining professionalism on and off the pitch.
“This is more than just about producing footballers,” Mhlongo added. “It’s about producing well-rounded young men and women who can thrive in whatever path they choose after football.”
By hosting Becoming a Diski Legend, Engen is expanding its legacy in grassroots football.
“We are showing that development isn’t only about performance on the pitch but also about equipping young athletes to seize their moment of glory in every part of life,” said Tsholo Tiro, Engen’s Brand & Sponsorship Manger.
