UJ LADIES RECLAIM  ENGEN CHAMP OF CHAMPS CROWN AS CAPE TOWN CITY CELEBRATE THEIR FIRST TITLE

The 2025 Engen Champ of Champs came to a thrilling conclusion at the Tuks High Performance Centre, bringing together the top-performing youth teams from across South Africa for a week of intense competition, skilful play, and memorable moments. The tournament once again cemented its status as the pinnacle of youth football in the country, where future stars showcase their potential on the national stage.

In the girls’ category, UJ Ladies reclaimed their title in style after an impressive campaign that saw them go unbeaten throughout the tournament. The Johannesburg side demonstrated tactical discipline and attacking flair, culminating in a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Durban Ladies in the final. Having last  lifted the trophy in 2023, UJ Ladies’ triumph this year reaffirmed their reputation as one of the strongest forces in youth football. Their performance reflected a well-balanced blend of experience, composure, and hunger to remain at the top.

On the boys’ side, Cape Town City emerged as champions after a gripping 3-0 encounter against Chippa United in one of the most dramatic finals the competition has seen. The match was a showcase of raw passion, technical skill, and resilience from both sides. City’s ability to remain composed under pressure proved decisive as they sealed the win and claimed their first-ever Engen Champ of Champs title.

Beyond the action on the field, the 2025 edition of the tournament continued to deliver on Engen’s longstanding commitment to developing young football talent, fostering inclusivity, and empowering players to reach their full potential. Through initiatives such as workshops, mentorship programs, and player education sessions, Engen continues to demonstrate that the tournament is not just about competition, it’s about growth, opportunity, and inspiration.

As the curtains close on another successful edition,  the Engen Champ of Champs continues to be a powerful platform where dreams are realized and champions are made. True to its legacy, this year once again lived up to the tournament’s proud slogan: “It’s Your Moment of Glory.”
