YOUNGSTERS ENCOURAGED TO SEIZE THE MOMENT AT ENGEN KNOCKOUT CHALLENGE OPENING CEREMONY

The opening ceremony of the 2024 Engen Knockout Challenge officially took place at the Erika Park Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday, 08 June, as proud sponsors Engen in close partnership with SAFA Cape Town officially opened the youth tournament for the 2024 edition.

Proudly themed “It’s Your Moment” in line with all its sport properties this year, the 2024 edition of the Engen Knockout Challenge will once again see South Africa’s leading fuel and oil company providing an exciting platform for South African youth footballers, coaches and referees to harness their skills across the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony at the ongoing tournament in Cape Town, External Communications Manager at Engen, Gavin Smith said that Engen was proud to consistently be at the forefront of fuelling youth sport development, also encouraging the participating teams to seize the moment provided by Engen.

“It is Engen’s great honour to once again be partnering with SAFA in staging what promises to be yet another exciting and highly successful edition of the Engen Knockout Challenge. To the players, go out there and take up this opportunity because It’s Your Moment today. You have put in all hard work and its now time for you to reap the rewards”, said Smith.

“We are also proud to announce that the prize money has went up in both the boys and girls section this year. This is to further encourage youth football development by us at Engen. However, we want to equally encourage you that the real victory lies in trying your best, creating memories and using this moment to put your best foot forward”, he concluded.

Echoing Engen’s sentiments of being intentional about youth football development was SAFA Cape Town Vice-President, Linda Pistoli who thanked Engen’s tireless commitment to sponsoring the Engen Knockout Challenge over the last 22 years.

“To Engen, we want to express our heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful work that you continue to do for football for these past years, not just here in Cape Town but across the country. The development of football continues to be on the rise thanks to Engen’s tireless efforts. We wish all the participants he best of luck” said Pistoli.

The Engen Knockout Challenge continues until Sunday, 09 June where the tournament champions that will compete at the Engen Champ of Champs will be crowned.
